56k Analog/PBX Modem -
Five of Hearts II, Jack of Hearts, Jack of Spades |
| Question |
Answer |
| What
do the Five of Hearts II, Jack of Hearts and Jack of Spades
have in common? |
- 56 Kbps Analog & PBX Data /14.4 Kbps Fax
Type II PC Card Modem.
- PLUS: They have DPI technology built into the
modem, at no additional cost, that allows you to
connect through both Analog and PBX phone systems.
|
| Will
these TRUMPCARDs work in Windows 95? |
- YES! They are fully Windows 95 and Windows 98
compatible. The Jack of Spades is a CardBus PC
Card will require Windows 95 OSR/2 or later
Windows operating system.
- They also have full Plug and Play support.
|
| Can
these TRUMPCARDS be used as a standard modem? |
- YES! Ositech has engineered the product to look
like a standard modem to all Card and Socket
Services. This means that your internet, fax and
data software will work as it would with other
modems.
- The DPI* Technology is used only if the modem is
connected to the handset cable of a digital phone
system (as found in many offices and hotels).
|
| What
Operating System Support is offered? |
- ODI and NDIS drivers for DOS and Windows 3.x,
plus 32-Bit NDIS3 driver support for Windows 95,
Windows 98 and Windows NT
- Special DPI configuration software for the
Windows 95 and Windows NT environments.
- The Five of Hearts II will also work in other
operating systems (Unix, Macintosh etc…) with
Card and Socket Services because it will be
recognized as a generic modem. In these
environments the DPI technology will still work,
but the operator has to follow the instructions
indicated in the advanced configuration section of
the manual or README.txt.
|
| What
is DPI™ Technology? |
- DPI™; stands for Digital Phone Interface and
is used with PBX phone systems.
- This new technology from Ositech Communications
Inc. is built into the PC card and allows the
modem to communicate through the handset cable of
many popular digital (PBX) phone systems.
- The DPI technology will activate if the modem is
connected to a digital (PBX) phone system.
Otherwise, standard analog modem mode is
activated.
|
| What
is an Analog or Digital (PBX) phone system? |
- Analog phone systems are found in most houses in
North America which provide a direct connection to
your telephone provider (ie. Bell Atlantic). With
analog phone lines, modems automatically dial a
phone number.
- Digital (PBX) phone systems use higher current
than analog phones (and can burn out modems that
do not have a digital line guard). Digital phones
send information from the handset to a PBX in
digital format. Because of this, DPI technology
can seldom dial digits automatically and requires
you to manually dial the phone number on the
handset.
|
| How do
I make a modem connection over a digital (PBX) phone
line? |
- Connect the DPI cable (modem cable with attached
black coupler) to the handset cable by detaching
the curly cable from the digital phone’s
handset.
- Launch data or fax software.
- DPI Assistant will pop up in Windows and prompt
you to lift phone hand set from cradle.
- Dial the phone number (indicated in the DPI
Assistant or your application) on the phone’s
base unit.
- Modem connects as if connecting through standard
analog phone line.
|
| Where
do I go if I have a problem or require the latest
software update? |

(888-674-8324)] from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm EST.
