When wires fail, communication goes on with the help of CellFlex

During a recent flooding, the West Virginia HAZMAT Emergency Response Unit maintained crucial communication using The King of Clubs Trumpcard

Guelph, Ontario, October 4, 2002: In a perfect world, most organizations conduct business conveniently right from the office. In reality, a large number of workers spend a considerable amount of time on the go, be it while prospecting new clients, repairing vending machines or responding to emergencies. A number of unfortunate events in recent history have demonstrated how vital wireless communication devices are.

The West Virginia HAZMAT Emergency Response Unit responds to natural and man-made disasters that involve hazardous materials. During crisis situations, the members of the Statewide Unit require access to the state’s Intranet or the Internet. When a recent flooding in the southern part of West Virginia destroyed all wired communications, the members of the HAZMAT Emergency Response Unit were able to maintain crucial communication by utilizing Ositech’s CellFlex kit.

The King of Clubs PC card features Ositech’s exclusive
CellFlex technology that allows online access form digital as well as analog cellular coverage areas. For catastrophic situations that may strike anywhere, dual data capability ensures on-going communication and allows efficient responses no matter where the help is needed. During the latest flooding that happened in rural West Virginia, the unit was able to respond effectively to the emergency by accessing important information and exchanging data and pictures wirelessly with Ositech’s CellFlex.
