Factors Affecting Where You Can Connect
As cellular phones become more prevalent in society, the cellular network (determining in what areas you can successfully send and receive cellular calls) continues to grow. To this end, Analog connections are now available in most parts of North America (see red areas on the map, below). Analog (AMPS) technology is the older of the two main connection types (see Cellular FAQ for more details on connection/network types), and is therefore more prevalent than its (newer) Digital counterpart (available in the yellow areas depicted on the map below).

What all this means to a user is that there will be certain areas where you can and cannot connect, as determined by the coverage and plan offered by your service provider. With digital-only, or analog-only cellular phones, you can connect only in the areas determined by the coverage regions provided by your particular calling plan. With a Dual Mode phone, your phone will detect (or you can set it to) the type of calling region you find yourself in (digital or analog), thereby providing connectivity in in your home network area and while you roam.

With most cellular data kits, you can connect through either a digital or an analog network. Dual Mode connectivity has always been confined to voice calls, until now. Ositech's CellFlex™ technology automatically configures your cellular phone for use in whichever calling region you try to connect through. With Ositech's CellFlex-capable PC Card you can now connect wherever there is a cellular network**, whether it’s your home network or another network you connect with while roaming.

**CellFlex dual mode digital data capabilities available only on digital data capable phones (where supported by the network).

Ease of Use
Ositech’s Wireless Internet Access Kit is designed for quick, easy installation and smooth operation. Installation and configuration software is provided for quick, hassle-free set-up. When it comes to switching between home and roaming networks, Ositech’s Smart Cellular feature automatically switches between modes to ensure you can connect no matter what area you find yourself in.

Connecting to the internet with your Ositech cellular solution is as simple as dialing up with a wireline connection. When the software and hardware are first installed, the profile for this modem is placed in your Dial-Up program, allowing you to connect wirelessly as a default or as a secondary option to wireline connections. Use both wireless and wireline for complete anywhere, any time connectivity.
